Crisis workers provide crisis counseling, information, referrals, and access to the immediate safety of our emergency shelter. Our crisis workers offer an understanding, non-judgmental ear to listen and only offer assistance if it's asked for. Our crisis workers are available 24 hours a day. During normal business hours, call (805) 781-6400. After hours, call HOTLINE at (805) 549-8989 (or 1-800-549-8989) and ask to speak with the Women's Shelter Program of San Luis Obispo County. This service is available only for San Luis Obispo County. If you are not in this county, please call your local women's shelter or 1-800-799-SAFE for the shelter nearest you. Why People Call People call our crisis counselors for many reasons. Some are looking for information on domestic violence to help a friend. Some need community resource information like counseling services. Some are referred by the police after their partner is arrested and need help or emergency shelter.
